I have finished my knitted afghan! It's Lion Brand Yarn's Artful Elegance Knit Afghan. I completed it yesterday evening at The Yarn Cafe, and will post pictures when I get home next week. It's made from Paton's Merino Wool, so I believe I will have it dry cleaned first, and then I will mist with water and block it after I get it back.
It feels so great to have it completed, especially since I have until August 11, before I have to gift it.
Today I spent the day visiting a couple of yarn shops in Minnesota: Shepherd's Choice and All About Yarn. I got to see sheep and llamas at Shepherd's choice and bought a hand of Trekking hand dyed sock yarn in very deep green, orange, and brown hues, as well as three hanks of Blue Sky Alpaca Suri Merino; talk about soft...I can't wait to knit up a new scarf for myself to wear this winter. When I visited All About Yarn, there wasn't any yarn that really called for me, but I did purchase The Great American Afghan by Cascade Yarns. I don't know why, but I have caught the knit afghan bug, and this sampler seems like a great way to have a more portable and manageable project I can work on while traveling. No definite plans as to when I'll begin working on it, but stay tuned for more details.
I know I haven't posted for two months, but the current project I'm working on is located in rural Minnesota and internet access is very arduous, so I only use it for necessary tasks. I am finished next week at this project. Hopefully there will be better access at the next assignment.
Happy knitting!
